What if it rains? I have been asked this question on numerous ocassions. When I started out photographing weddings some time back, I was always stressed in the event that it should rain, eventually I turned it around into my favour and made use of the countless opportunities that shooting in the rain can create.
Yes you get rain and you get rain! I always have a set of umbrellas with me, far to many to mention and we make use of these. Ofcourse if it's really comming down so heavily we wil then revert to the rain plan..:) There have been same crazy scenarios like the time myself, the bridal couple, entourage and my assistant were caught in the middle of a squall in the Drakensberg, needless to say we didn't escape that one, cameras were wet, I was wet, some kit was floating in the camera bags and of course the bride was soaked like we all were. Got some terrific shots before the rain so it was all worth it.

Reception started a few minutes late to allow us to get dry and off we went. The brides album turned out terrific and we have some great memories.
Shooting in the rain is not really an issue, provided that one is sensible about it. I always ask the bridal couple what their take is on it and take it from there.
Happy shooting.
